REMEMBER THE FORGOTTEN
Welcome to the website of the British Korean War Memorial Committee, or BKWMC. The 1950-53 Korean War is often labelled ‘The Forgotten War’ - our aim is to “Remember the Forgotten”. Focused on the future, the Committee will preserve the memories and experiences of those people who fought and died; which assured freedom and democracy of the Republic of Korea. BKWMC will do this by providing information, education and awareness, via a phased series of projects centered on the site of the Battle of the Imjin River (April 22-25, 1951). That fighting at Imjin River remains the bloodiest battle fought by British troops since World War II, just as the Korean War remains the bloodiest war fought by British troops since 1945. Read on to learn more – who we are, what we propose, and how you can donate. It is a cause that returns this dramatic battle from legend to history; memorializes the sacrifices of the British soldiers who rallied to South Korea in her hour of need; and further cements the friendship between the Republic of Korea and the United Kingdom
